MIRI, Oct 31: The Miri City Council (MCC) is offering a 50 per cent discount for outstanding parking compounds until end of this year while at the same time, taking legal action against vehicle owners who persistently fail to settle their parking outstanding compounds.

In stating this, MCC mayor Adam Yii said MCC has implemented stringent measures to enforce compliance with parking compound payments and vehicle owners will be responsible for bearing all legal costs incurred during the legal proceedings.

In an effort to encourage settlement, the Miri City Council has launched an amnesty campaign called “Bayar Parkir Kompaun Anda” or “Pay Your Parking Compound,” offering a generous 50 per cent discount until the end of this year to MCC parking defaulters who wish to clear their dues.

“The Council’s primary objective is to ensure vehicle owners fulfil their obligations and settle their parking outstanding compounds.

“To discourage delayed payment and ensure compliance, vehicle owners who receive a Letter of Demand (LOD) from the Council are not eligible for a 50 per cent discount on their parking outstanding compound,” said Yii in a press statement today.

To check the outstanding parking compound, vehicle owners can visit the Miri City Council website, Borneo Parking Systems Sdn Bhd website, or use the Borneo Park Miri app. — DayakDaily
