MIRI, Sept 24: The Miri City Council (MCC) building at Jalan Raja will continue to be put to good use.
In a statement today, MCC mayor Adam Yii said the building was built in the 1960s when the local authority was known as Miri District Council.
“This building can be considered as a historical building of which the facade of the building bears colonial architectural features; therefore, it is worthwhile to upkeep it,” said Yii who is also Pujut assemblyman.
He said the building currently houses MCC offices particularly those providing various council services to Miri City, including the Miri Public Library which moved in last month.
“Therefore, please be assured that usage of the building will continue to serve its purposes and link to this part of central business district (CBD) even though we have a new city hall in Marina Bay.
“The holding of the World Environmental Health Day 2023 celebration and Car-Free Day is among the instances that I am talking about,” said Yii. — DayakDaily
