MBKS welcomes Chinese delegation, strengthening ties with Yunnan in urban, tourism, cultural cooperation

KUCHING, May 13: The visit of His Excellency Wang Ning, secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Yunnan Provincial Committee and chairman of the Standing Committee of the People’s Congress of Yunnan Province, marks a pivotal moment in enhancing cooperation between Sarawak and Yunnan Province.

The delegation was warmly welcomed at Kuching International Airport today by Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng and Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kuching, Xing Weiping.

This high-level visit underscores the continued growth of the relationship between Kuching South and Kunming, with a focus on deepening collaboration in urban governance, tourism, environmental sustainability, and cultural exchange.

In a press release, Wee expressed his great pride in hosting the distinguished guests, highlighting the flourishing ties between Malaysia and China through city-to-city partnerships.

“We are excited to welcome our friends from Yunnan and anticipate meaningful collaborations in various fields in the future. Our longstanding relationship continues to grow stronger,” he said.
