KUCHING, May 13: While it is understandable for the Kapit community to look forward to development projects happening in the area, they need to remain patient as development projects take time to be implemented.

In a Facebook post, Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi said that support and close cooperation between all parties are equally important, as without them, it would be challenging to implement development projects.

“However, if all parties cooperate and trust the leaders in Kapit, more development may be brought to Kapit in the next few years,” he said after officiating the new Market Terabai in Kapit recently.

Among the development projects that will take place in Kapit, he said, is the construction of the Mara Professional College project in Nanga Yong, which was recently approved.

“In addition, the federal government also approved the construction of a road linking Nanga Semaram and Nanga Yong, including a bridge across Batang Rajang to Nanga Yong.

“All these projects that cost thousands of ringgit can be implemented due to the cooperation between all parties and the strong support from the community at the grassroots level to the existing government in Sarawak,” said Nanta, who is also Kapit MP.

Meanwhile, speaking on the new market which costs RM4.4 million, he said it can accommodate 96 stalls for vendors to sell agricultural produce, forest products, and fresh food items.

“In addition, it is also to overcome the problem of traders who are forced to sell their products by the roadside,” he said.

At the same time, he urged all vendors at the market to maintain the area’s cleanliness, as it is everyone’s responsibility to ensure Kapit town is clean and beautiful. — DayakDaily
