KUCHING, Jan 10: The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) is in the final stages of pursuing legal action against businesses at Bangunan Dirgahayu commercial building on Jalan Batu Lintang, for the misuse of parking lots as mechanic spaces.
MBKS Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said concerns have been raised by many about the premises, particularly one providing air conditioning services, which has been using parking spaces for car repairs and obstructing access.
“We’ve been to the site multiple times with the police, Land and Survey Department, and other authorities. Now, we are in the final stage of taking legal action against them,” he said during a press conference at the MBKS building today.
“The issue impacts all relevant departments, including the Inland Revenue Board, because if the trading license states it is for air conditioning services, carrying out repair work in parking lots is not permitted.”
Wee urged the public to remain patient, noting that legal proceedings take time. He also stressed the importance of reporting such issues through the appropriate channels.
“No council wants to be blamed for unresolved issues. We will do our best to address them promptly,” he added.
The issue was first brought to DayakDaily’s attention when a Kuching resident filed a complaint via email regarding the parking lots being used as mechanic spaces and clogged drains, adversely affecting nearby businesses and made it challenging to attract tenants to the commercial complex.
