KUCHING, June 24: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) has today delivered 414 boxes of face masks for all households in Kampung Tabuan Haji Drahman, which is currently undergoing the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) as their supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) is running low.
MBKS Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said that the contribution was made following requests from the residents who are unable to go out to purchase necessities as the lockdown in the village will run until June 28.
“These facemasks will be distributed to 408 households in the village with each household to receive one box, while six boxes or 300 pieces will be given to the frontliners guarding the EMCO area,” he said in a statement today.
Wee handed over the face masks to village chief Sahapudin Wan Kasim in the presence of councillors Iskandar Sharkawi, Sebali Chik, Goh Tze Hui and Kho Teck Wan.
He once again called on all Kuching South residents to play their roles seriously by adhering to the standard operating procedures (SOP) issued by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) as this will not only help curb the Covid-19 pandemic but also reduce the burden and stress on frontliners who have worked tirelessly for more than a year.
“We need to work and fight together to flatten the curve as the pandemic is still around us. Stay vigilant and stay alert.
“Always remind and care for each other, be it our families, neighbours, friends or our loved ones.
“We are still at war with this silent virus and we need to keep our family safe until the war ends,” he reminded. — DayakDaily
