KUCHING, Sept 25: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) has picked up the pace to upgrade and clean drains around Kuching city in preparation for the year-end monsoon season just around the corner.
MBKS mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said the related operations have already started this month and the council will see through the projects before the rainy season hits.
“Although the weather is hot these days, beware that the monsoon season is coming soon.
“So, we have started doing some upgrading projects at some drains to avoid flashfloods. We will also clear the small drains that are clogged with leaves and twigs,” he said during his Facebook live session today.
These initiatives aim to cut down the occurrence of flashfloods in Kuching, especially in low-lying areas. ā DayakDaily
