“MBKS promptly stepped in to provide support, ensuring that the victims received the necessary aid to rebuild their lives,” he said in a media release today.

Understanding the importance of education continuity, Wee personally accompanied the fire victims’ children to purchase school uniforms, shoes, and stationery, ensuring their studies would not be disrupted.

“Efforts were also made to secure temporary accommodations for the displaced families. While they eventually found alternative housing, I want to extend our appreciation to Regal Group Tropic City Enrichment Hub for their generous offer to provide shelter,” he added.

MBKS further assisted in relocating the victims to their newly rented homes, ensuring a smooth transition.

In addition to housing support, daily essentials such as toilet paper, detergent, and household necessities were distributed to help the families cope with immediate challenges.

Wee expressed his gratitude to the various agencies and individuals who stepped forward in the wake of the disaster, including the police, Sarawak Welfare Department, Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), Sarawak Energy, All Saints Church, community leaders, MBKS councillors, and Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Batu Lintang Branch.

“Their collective efforts reflected the Sarawakian spirit of unity and compassion,” he said.

Wee affirmed that MBKS remains committed to assisting the community in times of crisis and will continue working closely with relevant agencies to ensure affected families receive the necessary aid. — DayakDaily
