KUCHING, Sept 26: Some politicians may have been elected representatives for one or two decades but are still just playing the blame game without bringing real improvement to their constituencies.
On this, Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said everyone knows how to criticise and there has been no need for highly-paid elected representatives to put on such political shows which involve only lip service.
“People should vote for representatives who can deliver and not those who keep condemning others for not getting the jobs done.
“You are there for 20 years, and still nothing is accomplished. You are there for 10 years, 20 years, and you remain at the stage of finger-pointing where there should be some real improvements,” said Wee without naming any individual in particular during the handover of the Balai Raya Kampung Stampin upgrading project to the contractor today which was livestreamed on his Facebook page today.
Present with him was Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap who channeled funds for the project through his Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) allocation.
Wee said time flies and if the affected residents are still waiting for the same project to materialise after 10 or 20 years, then the elected representatives should feel they haven’t been fair to the people who have chosen them.
“Don’t look for issues but use your energy to serve the people,” Wee said.
He also called on residents to judge elected representatives from ruling parties rationally as they are the ones who have been bringing development to the various residential areas in Kuching. — DayakDaily
