“Both Sarawak and Romania can share and have cultural exchanges which will give a boost to tourism and facilitate business relationships between the two countries,” he said in a statement today.

In the meeting, both parties also discussed the smart city concept which Wee added that Sarawak can learn more from Romania as the cities in both countries are exploring how to effectively embrace and plan for sustainable smart urban solutions to build more livable urban environments.

Wee also briefed the Romanian entourage on efforts and processes involved in getting Kuching City to be recognised as a City of Gastronomy by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco).

“With that, we hope to be able to create opportunities for local products to be promoted outside Malaysia including to cities in Romania,” he added.
