KUCHING, Aug 23: The Kuching Food Festival 2025 recorded a total crowd of 1,044,417 visitors, with the highest single-day turnout reaching 96,568 people on Aug 2.

Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng revealed that while the turnout was impressive, the festival has yet to surpass its long-anticipated milestone of 100,000 visitors in a single day.

“During the festival, several days were affected by storms and heavy rain. Given these challenges, achieving over one million visitors is already an outstanding success. I am deeply grateful for the strong support from all quarters and thankful that the Kuching Festival was carried out smoothly,” he shared during his ShallWeeTalk live session today.

Wee assured that MBKS will continue to make improvements to further elevate the event in the coming years.

He added that the festival went well overall, aside from minor issues such as rainwater seeping into some stalls, which require follow-up discussions and to come up with better preventive measures.

“While weather is beyond our control, we will do our best to ensure the stalls are well-prepared so that businesses can operate smoothly,” he assured.

Wee also pointed to the success of the creative food stalls, which featured chefs from various regions, including international friendship cities from China.

“Their presence not only enhanced the festival’s culinary variety but also encouraged visitors to move deeper into the venue, easing congestion,” he added.

The month-long festival was held at MBKS grounds from July 25 to Aug 17, featuring food galore, cultural performances, talent showcases, sports and community events aimed at people of all ages and backgrounds. — DayakDaily
