KUCHING, April 4: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) fulfilled the wishlist of 13 individuals who have recovered from mental illness today.

Its mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said he first received the wishlist from the Halfway Home residents before Christmas last year.

“At that time, I happened to be a candidate (for Padungan State constituency) and they have so much confidence that if I won the election, they wanted something big from me.

“When I looked through the list, among the items they wished for were a motorbike, a handphone and a watch,” he said during his visit to the home located in Kota Sentosa today.

While MBKS funded the procurement of wishlist items using MBKS’ community funding, Tay Motors (M) Sdn Bhd also joined in to sponsor the motorcycle and two helmets.

At the same time, Wee appealed to the general public not to have stigma or discriminate against on those who have mental illness, adding that the patients should instead be given love and support throughout their recovery. — DayakDaily
