MBKS collabs with Trienekens to implement pilot recycling project for high rise apartments

KUCHING, Nov 3: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) is collaborating with Trienekens Sarawak Sdn Bhd to implement a pilot recycling project for high rise apartments.

According to MBKS mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng, the objective of the project is to actively implement waste reduction initiatives through recycling involving separation at source, including inculcate recycling practices amongst residents, and extending the lifespan of the city’s landfills.

“The duration of the project is one year starting today (Nov 3) until Oct 31, 2023,” he said  when officiating at the Recycling Pilot Project held at PR1MA Bintawa Riverfront, here today.

Wee said the collection report from the project will also be used for evaluation purposes before extending the initiative to other apartments and condominiums under MBKS jurisdiction.

He also call for participation from the management corporation as well as the residents in the apartments and condominiums involved.

“We need widespread cooperation from all to help take care of our environment to keep Kuching clean and green,” he added.
