KUCHING, Aug 20: Some 7,000 participants of all ages and walks of life joined the fifth edition of the Mayor’s Walk 2023 at the Canna Lili Boulevard within the Kuching City South Council’s (MBKS) compound this morning.
The much anticipated 3km walk that started at 7am was officiated by Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian, also the Minister of Public Health, Housing, and Local Government Sarawak.
Accompanying him were his wife, Datin Sri Eng Ong, MBKS mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng, deputy mayor Hilmy Othman, councillors, and staff.
The Mayor’s Walk 2023 is in line with the council’s healthy and smart city initiative, which aims to improve the health and well-being of the community.
Such an event strengthens the ties between family and friends and fosters community involvement and cooperation.
Most participants completed the circuit in an hour, and the main highlight was the lucky draw session with attractive prizes such as mountain bikes, tablets, water heaters, table fans, and vacuum to be won. — DayakDaily
