KUCHING, Nov 14: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng has urged those in positions of authority to contribute to funding efforts, emphasising a collective responsibility to improve community well-being rather than only pointing fingers and claiming credit.
Wee disclosed MBKS had already submitted plans for more than 20 projects worth over RM3 million by the end of the year, and that additional projects are in the works.
“After our final discussion, we will be submitting and bidding for the funding,” he said today, before handing over a drainage upgrading project along the back lane of Tabuan Dayak 6 to the appointed contractor. The handover was streamed live on his official Facebook page.
The mayor stated that the drains along the back lane of Tabuan Dayak 6 are in poor condition.
“We now have a group of city engineers, councillors, and community leaders from this area to inform them (the residents) that we are handing over this site to the contractor so that they (the contractor) will be able to carry out their work.
“So, usually all these projects will take almost two months to three months max for the completion.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused. If you have any issues that you would like to report regarding the project, please contact our city council,” he added.
Wee continued stating that the Council is now focussed on inspecting and prioritising drains and back drains for immediate attention. This includes an assessment of critical areas that require urgent intervention, with a commitment from officials to address these issues promptly. — DayakDaily
