KUCHING, Jan 24: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing says Julau is a seat allocated to the party and former assistant minister Larry Sng is not a PRS member.

Masing who is also Deputy Chief Minister stated that PRS and the Iban people would not be fooled by the Sngs a second time.

He said both Sngs were previously elected in Iban majority areas because the Iban people were unaware of their real characters.

“Sng (Datuk Sng Chee Hua) was elected before the Iban knew his real character. Similarly wth Sng Junior (Larry).”

“Now we know both father and son. We won’t be bitten twice.

“Sng Junior is not a member of PRS and Julau is a PRS MP seat! We will defend the seat,” Masing told DayakDaily.

Masing was responding to the recent message on social media posted by Larry who expressed interest in contesting in Julau in the upcoming 14th General Election (GE14).

Larry who is formerly Pelagus assemblyman and a state assistant minister believed that although Julau is an Iban majority area, race would not be an issue because his father Sng was once the Member of Parliament for the area between 1995 to 1999.

He did not undermine incumbent Julau MP Datuk Joseph Salang Gadung’s contribution in the last 18 years as the area’s MP.

However, Larry expressed his belief that this is a time for change.

Both Larry and Sng were PRS top leaders before there was a fallout and the Sngs were both expelled from the party. — DayakDaily
