KUCHING, May 10: Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing has suggested giving scholarships to the four young Sarawakians under their name in their respective fields as reward for their recent achievement at the international level.

The four Sarawakians are diving queen Pandelela Rinong, powerlifters Nicodemus Manggoi and Bonnie Bunyau and Miss Universe Malaysia 2020 Francisca Luhong James who represents Malaysia at the 69th edition of the Miss Universe competition in the United States.

Masing in a statement today said by giving them scholarships, the younger generations could be trained up and continue to make Sarawak and the country proud.

“We must remember that these four young people are Malaysians of Sarawak origin.

“Let Malaysia and Sarawak both honour their international achievements,” he said.

Masing, who is also Infrastructure and Ports Development Minister, said he congratulated the quartet on their achievements at the international level.

He believed the success of the four young Sarawakians has proved that Sarawakians are good if given the opportunities to train and to compete at the world stage. — DayakDaily
