Marudi villagers claim company encroached onto their NCR land

MIRI, July 24: At least ten villagers from Logan Entasan in Marudi today lodged a police report against a company for allegedly encroaching onto their native customary rights (NCR) land for logging.

The group which was led by Micheal Bigol, arrived at Miri Central police station (CPS) around 2.30pm to lodge the report.


Micheal disclosed that the area involved in the alleged encroachment measures about 1,267 hectares.

Following the incident, villagers of the area have blocked and seized at least five excavators belonging to the company about two months ago.

As at today, the villagers have yet to release any of the machines
