Marudi turns yellow zone, 794 Covid-19 cases detected during EMCO

KUCHING, March 20: Marudi district turns into yellow zone after registering one new positive Covid-19 case today.

In disclosing this, the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the new case recorded in Marudi brings the total tally of districts in the yellow zone to 18 districts.

“As of today, a total of 12 districts still remain in the red zone status, and three districts in the orange zone status, while eight other districts remain in green status,” he said during the State Covid-19 update press conference in the old State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building in Petra Jaya, here today.


Sri Aman, Song, Serian, Subis, Julau, Betong, Meradong, Kuching, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri and Sibu are the 12 districts in the red zone status as of today, while Samarahan, Bau and Sarikei also stay in the orange zone status.

The 18 yellow zones are namely Marudi, Mukah, Selangau, Dalat, Limbang, Telang Usan, Tanjung Manis, Kanowit, Samarahan, Belaga, Lundu, Bukit Mabong, Tatau, Pusa, Asajaya, Beluru, Saratok and Sebauh, as Pakan, Matu, Lawas, Daro, Simunjan, Lubok Antu, Tebedu and Kabong continue in their green zone status.

On the same note, Uggah said a total of 13 Enhanced Movement Control Orders (EMCO) had been implemented throughout the state as of today.

According to him, eight of the EMCOs have ended and a total of 16,766 individuals were screened, with a total of 28,354 samples being taken.

“From the total numbers of individuals screened, 794 cases were found to be Covid-19 positive, while the remaining 15,363 were tested negative for the second screening test, and 609 others still waiting for their laboratory test result,” he added. — DayakDaily
