MARUDI, Feb 17: In an effort to strengthen community policing in the district, Marudi police have carried out a meet-and-greet programme with the public for the past week.

During the programme, police personnel from Marudi police headquarters led by Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department chief Inspector Erwin Geoffry Ussan had visited longhouses, homes and carried out spot-checks in public areas within the town.

According to Inspector Erwin, during the programme, they also conducted random checks and surveillance in public places to ensure that members of the public comply with the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).

“So far, the people in Marudi have complied with the SOPs,” he said.

Inspector Erwin added that they also conducted checks at two low-lying areas in Marudi as part of their flood monitoring efforts.

These areas are Lubok Nibong and Logan Manuk in Beluru. — DayakDaily
