SIBU, June 21: A 30-year-old man was taken into custody for possessing RM81,300 worth of illicit diesel yesterday.
In a statement, Sibu District police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said the suspect was arrested during an operation codenamed Op Taring Kontraban conducted by Region 5 Marine Police.
He said the suspect was present during the raid on a premises in Jalan Ding Lik Kong at about 8.45am where the diesel was stored.
“An inspection of the premises found two metal tanks and two plastic containers with 10,400 litres of diesel,” he said.
The suspect failed to furnish proof from the authorities for possessing large amounts of the diesel.
The suspect and the diesel have been referred to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living for further action. — DayakDaily
