MIRI, July 11: Marine police seized RM50,000 worth of contraband cigarettes and liquors left unattended at Tudan Bus Terminal, here, yesterday evening.
Acting on a public tip-off, a team of Miri Marine Police personnel rushed to the scene to carry out their raid and further investigation.
“Ops Landai (raid) was held following a tip-off received by the force earlier, at around 7pm. It was reported that the items were spotted at a corner section of the bus terminal.
“The team discovered the items, cigarettes and liquors, believed to be smuggled and were left unattended at the bus terminal,” a department source said when contacted.
The source added that enforcement officers waited for several hours for someone to collect the items but nobody showed up. The contraband cigarettes and liquors were later brought to Lutong Police Station.
Miri police chief, ACP Lim Meng Seah, confirmed the raid when contacted today. — DayakDaily
