MIRI, March 1: Two locals were arrested after Miri police found 1,000 grammes of methamphetamine in the spare tire of their car on Tuesday.
The seized drugs were valued at RM36,000.
According to Miri Police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, the duo, a man and woman, were detained at around 3pm at the Sungai Tujoh Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) complex.
“Upon inspection, the police then found the drugs wrapped with an aluminum foil inside a spare tire in the trunk of the car,” he said in a statement.
Also seized were local and foreign currencies and jewelries.
The total amount seized is estimated to be worth around RM57,200.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. — DayakDaily
