MIRI, Jan 6: A man who reportedly sneaked into a power substation in Tudan on Jan 2 and got electrocuted while allegedly trying to steal cable is dead.

City police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah confirmed this today.

“The man died on Saturday (Jan 5) following the serious injuries he suffered.

“We are now trying to verify his identity,” he said.

At around 6.30pm on Jan 2, residents living near the substation were stunned when they saw a naked man sitting by the roadside with burnt marks all over his body.

It was later revealed that the man had fallen off from the transmission tower, at about the height of a three-storey building, after being electrocuted.

He was later rushed to Miri Hospital, but he slipped into a coma and was pronounced dead on Saturday. — DayakDaily
