Man shocked by 10kg king cobra ‘visitor’

Seen is the 10kg king cobra after it was successfully lured out of the vehicle engine.

MIRI, June 9: A 54-year-old man and his family had just returned from visiting his relatives for Hari Raya Aidilfitri on Saturday night (June 8) when he spotted a four-metre-long king cobra weighing about 10kg slithering into the engine compartment of his vehicle.

The incident took placed at a house in Kampung Masjid Kuala Baram, located about 24km from the city centre.

Worried and fearing for his family’s safety, the man immediately contacted Miri Civil Defence Force (APM) for help.


Upon receiving the alert at 9.30pm, three APM personnel deployed to the scene and after 40 minutes, they successfully coaxed the reptile out of the engine and captured it.

No injuries were reported during the incident. — DayakDaily
