Man sentenced to nine months’ imprisonment for hurting friend who returns bike 1.5 hours late

KUCHING, Dec 29: The Magistrate’s Court here sentenced a man to nine months’ imprisonment for voluntarily causing hurt to his friend by using an iron rod.

Faizal Mohammad, 36, pleaded guilty to the charge framed before Magistrate Nursyaheeqa Nazwa Radzali for hurting his friend who failed to return his motorcycle on time as promised.


Magistrate Nursyaheeqa convicted him under Section 324 of the Penal Code and sentenced him to nine months’ imprisonment, with effect from the date of his arrest, September 30.

Section 324 of the Penal Code carries imprisonment up to 10 years, or with fine, or with whipping, or any two such punishments, upon conviction.

Faizal was found voluntarily causing hurt to his 45-year-old friend at an eatery in RPR Lander, at about 10.30am on September 26, 2022.

According to the brief facts of the case, the accused had lent his motorcycle to the victim and the victim returned the motorcycle an hour and 30 minutes late to the accused.

When the victim returned the motorcycle to the accused, both accused and victim had an argument and the accused started to hit the victim with an iron rod.

The victim suffered injury in his head, elbow and right knee.

Prosecuting Officer Inspector Nur Syafiqa Nyaie Ilin prosecuted while the accused was unrepresented by counsel. – DayakDaily
