KUCHING, Sept 18: A man was sentenced to a jail term of 5 years and 10 strokes for possessing 80.53 grammes of cannabis.
The accused, Mohamad Pizuan Bahtiar pleaded guilty at the Sessions Court here today. Session Court judge Marutin Pagan passed sentence on the accused.
According to the charge sheet, the accused was found in possession of 80.53 grammes of cannabis on May 21, 2018 at about 8.45am, in the second bedroom of a house located at Taman Sri Malihah.
The accused was found guilty of committing an offence under Section 6 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which is punishable under Section 39A(2) of the same Act.
Upon conviction, the accused shall be sentenced to imprisonment of not less than 5 years or a life sentence of imprisonment and shall also be punished with whipping of not less than ten strokes. — DayakDaily
