Man remanded five days to assist probe into knife attack on stepfather

MIRI, March 29: A 24 year-old man has been remanded for five days until April 2 to assist in an investigation into a knife attack on his stepfather.

The accused was produced at the Magistrates Court yesterday.

Subordinate court registrar Nuur Hafiza Yatim issued the remand order to enable the police to conduct the probe under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievious hurt.

The police arrested the accused around 5.10am on March 28 inside a workers’ quarter at Taman Industrial Estate, following a report lodged by his mother after the alleged attack on March 27.

According to the fact sheet, the incident occurred around 10.30pm inside a workers’ quarters unit at Taman Industrial Estate.

The accused was alleged to have attacked his stepfather with the knife in the living room and later fled the scene.

The victim reportedly sustained injuries to his body. ā€” DayakDaily
