KUCHING, May 22: The Sessions Court today ordered a man to enter his defence against the proferred amended charge of physical sexual assault on an underage girl by touching her buttocks.
Sessions Court Judge Mohd Taufik Mohd Yusoff found that the prosecution had proved a prima facie case against the accused and called for his defence on June 25.
The accused allegedly assaulted the 13-year-old girl for sexual purposes by touching her buttocks at his house in Kampung Samariang Batu at about 10.30am on Feb 5 last year.
He was charged under subsection 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 and punishable under Section 14 of the same Act, which carries imprisonment term not exceeding 20 years and shall also be liable to whipping.
DPP Nurfadzlin Mahmad Zulhasnan prosecuted, while the accused was represented by counsel Fung Lee Fook.— DayakDaily
