MIRI, Oct 20: A 28-year-old man has been remanded for four days beginning Friday to facilitate investigation into a complaint that he had assaulted his girlfriend.
It is understood that the 21-year-old victim lodged a police report after losing a few teeth and suffered head and body injuries after his boyfriend allegedly stepped on her head multiple times and repeatedly banged her head against the wall.
The incident took place in Kampung Wireless here at around 8pm, Thursday.
Miri City police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah, when contacted, said the suspect was picked up at about 10pm on the same day.
The case is being investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that the suspect and the victim had been arguing,” said Lim, adding that jealousy had sparked the altercation. — DayakDaily
