Man jailed 12 months for hurting elderly father with chair, piece of wood

KUCHING, June 13: The Sessions Court here sentenced a self-employed man to 12 months’ imprisonment for hurting his 77-year-old father.

Allhamulana Kaderi, 47, pleaded guilty to the charge framed under Section 324 of the Penal Code and read together with Section 326A of the same Code, which provides for a jail term up to 10 years or fine, or both, upon conviction.


Sessions Court Judge Dayang Ellyn Narisa Abang Ahmad sentenced the accused to 12 months’ imprisonment, with effect from today.

The accused was charged with voluntarily caused hurt to his father at their house in Kampung Gita Tengah Hilir, at about 7am on June 5 because he was unhappy that the victim scolded him.

The accused then became angry with the victim and started to hurt the victim using a plastic chair and hitting the victim’s left arm by using the chair and a piece of wood.

The accused in his mitigation pleaded for a lenient sentence as he was remorseful of his act towards his father and agreed not to repeat the same.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Danial Mohamad Ali prosecuted while the accused was unrepresented by counsel. — DayakDaily
