KUCHING, Aug 11: The Magistrate’s Court here sentenced a man to 12 months’ jail for hijacking a garbage truck.
Mohamad Azif Masot Saleh, 35, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Mohd Syukri Mokhtar today.
He was charged with stealing a garbage truck belonging to Trienekens Sdn Bhd by ordering the driver to leave the truck, at Lorong 28, RPR Housing Batu Kawa, at about 1.30pm on January 4, 2020.
He was charged under Section 379A of the Penal Code, which carries an imprisonment term of between one and seven years, and liable to a fine upon conviction.
According to the brief facts of the case, the garbage truck driver was working at the said location when the incident happened.
The accused had suddenly stopped the truck and pull the driver out of the truck. Subsequently, the accused used the garbage truck to ram into a police officer’s house.
