Man given one-year good behaviour bond for punching woman trying to prevent forced drinking in Kuching bistro

KUCHING, Dec 7: A man who punched a woman after she tried to stop him from forcing her friend to drink alcohol was yesterday ordered by the Magistrates Court here to be on a bond of good behaviour for a period of one year in the sum of RM500 undeposited with one surety.

Truman Yiin Shih Jen, 36, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali after the charge framed under Section 323 of the Penal Code was read to him.

The Section provides for imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year or with fine, which may extend to RM2,000 or with both, upon conviction.


The offence was committed at a Kuching bistro along Jalan Green Hill at about 2am on February 4, 2023.

Based on the facts of the case, Yiin became angry after the victim tried to stop him from forcing another woman to drink, and he suddenly stood up to punch the woman victim.

The victim subsequently lodged a police report against Yiin.

The victim suffered injuries to her left cheek and a bleeding nose and was sent to the Sarawak General Hospital for treatment and check-up.

The accused was represented by his lawyers Michael Kong and Sim Kiat Leng. — DayakDaily
