KUCHING, Dec 13: A 24-year-old man was today sentenced to 8 years’ jail for raping his girlfriend, who was then 15 years and 5 months old.
Sessions Court judge Marutin Pagan passed the sentence on Bobson Meon, 24, from Kampung Biawak when he pleaded guilty to the crime.
Bobson was charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code for raping his underage girlfriend on December 2017 at about midnight in the victim’s house at Kampung Biawak in Lundu.
According to the facts of the case, the victim’s father lodged a police report after his wife found a pregnancy test kit in their daughter’s room. Their daughter then admitted to having sex with the accused at their house and at the accused’s house.
The victim gave birth to a baby boy in February this year.
The accused was unrepresented, while deputy public prosecutor Azahari Yusof prosecuted. — DayakDaily
