Man gets 6-month good behaviour bond for slapping girlfriend

KUCHING, June 18: A 26-year-old unemployed man was ordered to maintain good behaviour for six months with a RM1,000 bond by the Magistrate’s Court here today after he pleaded guilty to slapping his girlfriend.

Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan issued the order against Mohd Hanif Affandi following his admission of guilt under Section 67 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

According to the brief facts of the case, on May 28, 2024, around 11pm in Kampung Semariang, Petra Jaya, the accused slapped his 18-year-old girlfriend when she met him to retrieve her mobile phone.

Before the incident, an argument ensued between the couple. The victim immediately lodged a police report, leading to the arrest of the accused.

The victim sustained injuries to her cheek due to the accused’s actions.

To prevent a recurrence, the court ordered the accused to complete a six-month good behaviour bond.

Prosecuting Officer Inspector Nur Shafiqa Nyaie Ilin handled the prosecution, while the accused was unrepresented. — DayakDaily
