MIRI: A 59-year-old Indonesian man was found unconscious by rescuers after he fell into a 20-foot deep manhole this morning.

Lopeng fire station received the emergency call at 8.35am, informing them of the incident at Jalan by-pass Vista Perdana and rushed a team of firefighters to the scene.

Operation commanding officer PBK II KUP Wan Sakawi Wan Kadir disclosed that the victim, identified as Ali Nafiah was doing repair work in the manhole when a wind blower pump from the above suddenly fell and hit him.

With rope and ladder, firefighters scaled down into the manhole to rescue him.

Although they successfully carried him up to safety, the victim was unconscious.
