Man found dead in front of 24/7 mart at Jalan Lapangan Terbang, police seeks next of kin

KUCHING, March 7: Authorities are appealing to the public for assistance in locating the family members of an unidentified man found dead in front of a 24/7 convenience store at Jalan Lapangan Terbang, Batu 6, here yesterday.

According to reports by the Kuching district police department, preliminary investigations suggest the deceased is believed to be an unemployed and homeless man aged approximately 40 to 50 years old, with no identification documents found on his person.

At approximately 1.15pm yesterday, the Kuching District Police Headquarters received a call from members of the public about a man sleeping in front of a 24/7 convenience store. Officers from the Sg Maong police station were dispatched to the scene and found the individual was unresponsive. A medical team later arrived and confirmed that the man had passed away.

The body of the man has been sent to the Sarawak General Hospital for an autopsy, which would be conducted once the deceased’s family has been contacted.

“Members of the public who have lost family members or have any information regarding the incident are urged to come forward to provide information related to the identity of the deceased or to contact the chief of the Sg Maong police station, Insp Awang Ramzi bin Awang Junaidi, at 019-8444123 and the Sg Maong police station at 082-420469.

“The case is under investigation as a sudden death report,” Kuching District Police Chief Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said.

He reminded the public not to make any speculation regarding this incident and to respect the family’s sensitivity. – DayakDaily
