Man fined RM1,300 for making false police report over loss of RM500

KUCHING, Nov 2: A sales assistant was fined RM1,300 for making a false police report.

Awang Nur Sharifie Awg Demit, 26, pleaded guilty to the charge framed under Section 182 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to six months or a fine of up to RM2,000, or both, upon conviction.


Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali accepted his guilty plea and sentenced him to a fine of RM1,300 or in default to one month in jail.

The accused was charged with making a false police report at Kuching Police District Headquarters (IPD), at about 4pm on April 7, 2020.

In his police report, the accused claimed he had been threatened by two police officers and had lost RM500 to them.

Upon investigation by the IPD Kuching Criminal Investigation Department (CID), it was found that the accused had made a false police report.

In fact, the RM500 that the accused claimed he had lost belonged to the accused’s mother and he wanted the money for his personal use.
