MIRI, July 19: A local man has been detained by Miri Narcotics Crime Investigation Division on Thursday night for alleged involvement in drug possession during a raid held at the alley of a premises in Waterfront Commercial Centre here.
During the raid, police confiscated drugs amounting 104.35g, estimated at street valued of RM10,100.00.
According to Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah, the 35 year old suspect was detained at 8.10pm last night by a district narcotics crime team led by Inspector Mohamed Basheer A.G Sulaiman.
Lim said prior to the arrest, the suspect was seen at a section along the alley, awaiting for ‘something’ and the police believed that he was expecting someone to ‘collect’ the illegal substances.
During the arrest, police seized the drugs believed to be Nimetazepam and Ketamine from the suspect.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was high on drugs.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dabgerous Drugs Act 1952.— DayakDaily
