KUCHING, Sept 18: An unemployed man was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here today, for causing grievous hurt to his girlfriend two weeks ago.
The 42-year-old, from Batu Caves, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read out to him before Magistrate Mohd Syukri Mokhtar
He was accused of voluntarily causing grievous hurt to the girl, 35, at Rubber Road on Sept 3, around 3.30pm.
According to the facts of the case, the victim and the accused were riding on a motorcycle and the accused suddenly hit the victim with a helmet. The victim suffered bruises on her right and left eyes, as well as left eyebrow.
Police investigation revealed that the accused had caused hurt to the victim because she did not want to continue their relationship.
He was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which carries an imprisonment term up to one year or a maximum fine of RM2,000, or both, upon conviction.
The court fixed Oct 16 for pre-trial case management.
Investigating officer Nelson Ensit prosecuted, while the accused was unrepresented by counsel. — DayakDaily
