Man attacks wife for not bringing him along to shop

MIRI, Oct 2: A 31-year-old man from Kampung Danau, Bekenu was arrested by the police on Monday evening (Oct 1) for allegedly assaulting his wife of 10 years.

The assault reportedly occurred on Saturday (Sept 29) around 8.45pm at the couple’s house in Kampung Danau, Bekenu.

According to the initial investigation, the husband lost his temper after learning that his 30-year-old wife had gone grocery shopping in Miri without him earlier that day.


Upon her return to their home in Kampung Danau which is located about 55km from Miri that Saturday, the husband acted aggressively towards her.

Sources said the husband had cut their bed pillows with a pair of scissors before he went on to hit and slap his wife.

The wife sustained injuries to her body and face.

A police report was later lodged by the victim, who is a kindergarten teacher, on Sunday evening (Sept 30) at the Bekenu police station.

A team of Miri police subsequently arrested the suspect in Kampung Danau on Monday at around 5pm to assist the police investigation into the case.

The case is being investigated under Section 323/326A for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means. — DayakDaily
