SIBU, July 7: A man and a woman were fined RM800 each in default of 10 days’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court here today for committing affray in a public place.
The two accused, Ekih Undieng, 45, and Patreccia Jegu, 29, pleaded guilty to the charge under Section 160 of the Penal Code for committing affray in a public place by fighting and disturbing the peace.
The offence provides for a jail term of not exceeding six months, or fine, or both if convicted.
According to the charge sheet, at about 8.30pm on July 4, a fight occurred between the two accused at Park City Food Court in Sibu Jaya.
The accused, Ekih slapped Patreccia twice on her cheek and also took her handphone.
Today, only the male accused paid the fine. — DayakDaily
