Man, 71, dies in early morning collision involving 10-tonne lorry

SARATOK, Feb 6: A 71-year-old man was pinned to death inside his vehicle after being involved in a collision with a 10-tonne lorry along Jalan Kedap this morning.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue department (Bomba) operation center in a statement said they received the emergency call at 8.30am and a team of 10 firefighters from Bomba Saratok led by PPgB Nazry Mohamat was deployed to the scene.

“Operation commander reported that the incident involving a 10-tonne lorry loaded with medical waste, had collided head-on with a sedan vehicle.

“Firefighters then carried out an operation to extract the sedan car driver – who was still pinned inside his vehicle – using a special tools, but the victim was confirmed dead by the medical team on the location,” the statement said.

The body of the deceased, identified as Johnathan Tingang Empeni, was later handed over to the police for further action.—DayakDaily.
