According to a statement on Monday (Sept 1), this year’s championship drew over 200 teams from 30 countries, making it one of the toughest battlegrounds for both professional and amateur paintball enthusiasts.

Malaysia was proudly represented by seven teams competing across multiple divisions. They included KPM, K Troopers (Division 4 X-Ball), Unknown (Division 4 X-Ball), Thunderstorm (WNXL 3v3), RASKAL Avengers (Amateur 3v3), Sekito (Amateur 3v3), Malaysia Women (UPBF Women Open X-Ball).

Based in Kampung Mambong, Jalan Puncak Borneo, Padawan, KPM stands as the first licensed paintball club in Sarawak officially registered with the Sports Commissioner of Malaysia.

Its latest international success underscores the club’s ability to bring glory to the nation beyond domestic competitions.

Team manager and head of the Malaysian delegation, Muhammad Morsidi Abdullah, hailed the achievement as a gift to the nation in conjunction with Malaysia’s 68th National Day.

“This victory is the result of the team’s sacrifices and relentless hard work. We undertook intensive preparations, including strategic training and skill sharpening, to ensure we could deliver a strong challenge before departing for France,” he said.

Morsidi noted that the chilly weather conditions in France posed significant challenges to the players’ stamina and focus. Light rain and strong winds disrupted concentration in several matches, but the team’s determination and fighting spirit carried them through to success.

He expressed hope that this breakthrough will inspire more young Malaysians to take up paintball and encourage greater recognition and support from both authorities and sponsors for local teams with world-class potential. — DayakDaily
