Mall explosion: No elements of criminal, terror links — DCP

KUCHING, Dec 5: Sarawak Deputy Commissioner of Police Datuk Pahlawan Mohd Dzuraidi Ibrahim said there was no criminal or terror element in the explosion that rocked CityOne Megamall yesterday.

“Based on the investigation conducted by the police thus far, the case is not linked or related to terrorism or any criminal intent,” he told reporters when he visited the scene of the deadly explosion today.

On the cause of death of the three individuals who perished in the explosion, Dzuraidi said the case had been classified as sudden deaths.

“Post-mortem has been carried out on two of the deceased, while the other is still in the process,” he explained.

He added that investigations into the cause of the explosion were still ongoing by the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) as well as by the Department of Occupational and Safety (DOSH).
