KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 3: Malaysia recorded two new Covid-19 cases today, disclosed Health Ministry (MoH) director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah during a press conference in Putrajaya.

With this, the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Malaysia has increased to 9,001 cases.

“As of noon today, there were two new positive cases of Covid-19.

“One new case is from the Sivaganga PUI (Person-Under-Investigation) cluster in Kedah while another case involved a vocational college student returning to Labuan which was discovered from a (Covid-19) swab test.

“The two cases are local transmissions and there are no imported cases reported today,” he said when giving updates on the national Covid-19 situation during the press conference at the Ministry of Health’s (MoH) headquarters at Putrajaya.

Dr Noor Hisham said there were 208 active cases with one patient being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital while no patient is on ventilators.

He added there were four patients who recovered and were discharged from hospitals, raising the total number of recoveries to 8,668 cases out of the total number of positive cases in the country.

There were no fatalities recorded today.

Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham reminded the people to keep abiding by the standard operating procedures (SOPs) laid out by MoH to break the chain of Covid-19 transmission in the country. — DayakDaily
