MIRI, Aug 27: The Ministry of Health (MOH) Malaysia is on high alert and in a state of readiness to combat any potential outbreak of monkeypox (Mpox), according to Deputy Minister of Health, Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni.
“We are fully prepared, and we have implemented strict health screening measures at all entry points into the country,” Lukanisman said.
“Our scanning machines are actively checking the body temperatures of incoming passengers,” he pointed out.
Lukanisman disclosed this on Tuesday when met during the Jualan Rahmah in Sibuti.
Earlier, Lukanisman was accompanied the Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Datuk Armizan Bin Mohd Ali, at the launching of the Jualan Rahmah.
As of now, Malaysia has not recorded any cases of Mpox.
However, he said, the ministry is closely monitoring developments in neighboring countries, particularly Singapore, and other regions where the virus has been detected.
“We are vigilant in monitoring issues in Singapore and other countries bordering Malaysia. If we suspect any cases of Mpox, we will immediately implement the necessary procedures as outlined by the Ministry of Health,” he added. — DayakDaily
