Malaysia civil service workforce reaches over 1.26 mln as of March 2024, excluding police and military

KUCHING, July 30: As of March 30, 2024, the total number of permanent civil servants across all grades in Malaysia stands at 1,260,429.

In a news report by TVS, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territory) Dr Zaliha Mustafa stated that this data excludes police and military service schemes.

“On the brief overview of the statistics of permanently appointed civil servants by service group from 2020 to March 30, 2024, the top management group, involving JUSA Grade C officers and above, comprised 3,967 people.

“For the management and professional group, involving Grade 41 to 56, the latest number is 563,634 people, with the highest filling range this year and the lowest filling of 526,172 in 2020,” she told the Dewan Negara today.

She was responding to Senator Prof Tan Sri Datuk Dr Mohamed Haniffa Abdullah, who requested the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to provide the latest number of permanent civil servants by grade from 2020 to 2023 and the first three months of 2024.

Meanwhile, Dr Zaliha noted that the implementation group, involving officers from Grade 40 to 50 and below, totalled 692,828 people.

“The highest filling range was 702,679 in 2020, and the lowest filling was 687,645 in 2022,” she revealed. — DayakDaily
