Additionally, only one lane in front of the Old Court House will be open during the day.

The festival is organised by the Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (HuaZong) and hosted by the Federation of Chinese Associations Sarawak (FCAS), with support from the Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture and Federation of Chinese Associations Kuching Samarahan and Serian.

In a media release yesterday (Sept 10), the organisers urged road users to avoid these areas during the festival and apologised for any inconvenience caused.

The cultural celebrations will kick off tomorrow (Sept 12) with activities and programmes spanning Serian, Samarahan, and Kuching.

In Kuching, the festival will feature a torch relay on Sept 12 and 13, followed by a creative lantern parade competition, cultural performances, and the closing ceremony on Sept 15, starting at 5pm at the Kuching Waterfront, where a large stage will be set up in front of the Old Court Clock Tower.

Over the weekend, vibrant cultural celebrations will also take place along Carpenter Street, including lantern-making contests at Feng Shan Temple Theatre and mooncake-making demonstrations at the Waterfront. — DayakDaily
