KUCHING, Dec 24: The ‘Christ Is King’ statue, which boasts a majestic presence at the entrance of Mount Singai, has been unveiled as the newest landmark in the district of Bau.
In a Facebook post on Thursday (Dec 21), Tasik Biru assemblyman Dato Henry Harry Jinep stated that the statue will serve as an additional significant religious landmark for the Christian community in the area.
He also mentioned that the statue will be among other significant religious landmarks, such as the established churches and facilities, located halfway up the Singai mountain at the Catholic Memorial Pilgrimage Centre (CMPC).
Harry stated earlier this year, after various discussions with church elders and committee members, that a statue to mark the area as an important religious ground would be made and built somewhere near the entrance, thus the Christ Is King statue is erected.
Furthermore, there will be a holy mass prayer held at the entrance of the compound on Jan 1, 2024, at 10am.
After the prayer, Archbishop Simon Poh will proceed with a blessing ceremony for the newly erected Christ Is King statue.
The ceremony is open to both members of the Christian community in the district and the general public. — DayakDaily
